LOUISVILLE, Ky.— The Louisville Xtreme arena football team today announced UofL Health as the team’s title partner through the 2023 season.
The expansion Louisville Xtreme will begin play in the Indoor Football League in April 2021.
UofL Health, the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s largest academic health system, is a leading provider of advanced health care in the region. It has five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice location, more than 700 providers, the Frazier Rehabilitation Institute and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center. The health system has more than 12,000 team members, including physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists and other highly skilled health care professionals.
“It is an honor to welcome UofL Health as our title partner,” Louisville Xtreme General Manager Victor Cole, said. “With UofL Health we have an outstanding partner that will not only ensure the health and wellbeing of our players, but will assist us in making sure that our fans and staff remain safe and health in these unprecedented times. We are excited to move forward and want to thank UofL Health CEO Tom Miller and his team’s effort in making the partnership a reality.”
As part of the three-year partnership, UofL Health will provide support for Louisville Xtreme on COVID protocols for players, staff and fans. Wellness screenings and general health information also will be available at select games.
The Xtreme’s medical staff will include Dr. Lonnie Douglas, physician/orthopedic surgeon; Dr. Darryl Kaelin, physical medicine and rehabilitation; Bianca Grimshaw, athletic training coordinator and Jason Bracco, physical therapist.
“UofL Health is proud to invest back into our community by helping kick off the inaugural season of the Louisville Xtreme,” said Tom Miller, CEO of UofL Health. “The COVID pandemic has taken its toll everywhere, but, as conditions improve, we are hopeful the Louisville region will rally again around its enthusiasm for sports and support this team.”
UofL Health is just concluding its first year as a health system, and the title partnership with the Louisville Xtreme marks the health care organization’s entry into professional sports sponsorships.
“Having access to advanced and expert medical care is vital for our team, especially in this day and time,” Xtreme Head Coach Mark Stoute said. “There is no doubt in my mind that having UofL Health as our partner will have us winning championship sooner rather than later.”
